If we all did just one small thing...after all, it was a whole lot of 'just one things' that caused damage to our planet...
This is a good reminder today, Keith. I like the comment of the poster before. If all of us who are reading this would do just one thing today......just as pick up litter in our environment or plant a tree.....it could make a difference and make a start.
Happy Earth Day!!
We must all be aware. Thanks, Keith.
I wish I were as optimistic about the future of our planet as you, but I'm not. Technology and Economics rule our world, and it's spreading into third-world countries that are (China in particular) making a mess of it. We've done next to nothing to stop global warming. Back in the sixties, Eric Fromm wrote in Revolution of Hope that if we cut back our lifestyle by 10%, we could solve our problems. I'm not sure we've cut it back even 1%.
Happy Earth Day Keith!!
Amen and then some!! Love that quote!!!
Happy earth day Keith...earth is precious, hope we understand this soon ..
Well said Keith!
This day almost got lost in all the hullabaloo that has captured our minds lately. The Native Americans had a much better appreciation than we do of our earth and the animals that live here. We are too much a throw away society and keep thinking there is more where that came from. Thanks for the reminder Keith.
The Earth is a precious gift and I've never heard that quote. It makes more sense and would probably get people thinking more about what they do.
No, it isn't too late!
i love earth!
That is a deep quote in my mind, just wonderful and says it all.
I am not really too sure about it being too late. But yes, if we start asap, there is a lot that can be done. Either way, I am ~23, have at most 70 more Earth Days to celebrate and I think the earth will be safe till then.My prejudice/reservations apart, that was a great quote. I think I am gonna be thinking about it for a few days.
I love that saying!
I love my planet , we have to save it .
What a beautiful saying, Keith. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely! Be kind to Mother Earth...
The Earth is a terrible thing to waste.
Happy Earth Day!
What a terrific quotation! Even the Bible says we are supposed to be caretakers. Hope we don't get fired for doing a lousy job!
The earth is my renewal, my strength and my home. I honor and celebrate Earth Day with all. Thank you for being here Keith.
So very true, too bad big money keeps screwing with it making it worse for everyone else.
Wonderful quotation! In school and Sunday school, my kids have been learning about protecting the earth. They come home with all kinds of tips for me. I love their enthusiasm! Protecting the earth is so important.
Every little step we take is a help! Reduce, reuse, recycle! We need to become more aware of the results of our actions. Great quote!
What's needed is more 'Earth Day', every day...
I forgot it was earth day!!!! Thanks for the reminder!!!
So very true!!!!!!
Hear Hear. :) You always cheer me up Keith.
Good thing to remember!
i have always loved that saying.
Happy Earth Day, dreamer.
If only people would listen. As my thirteen year old daughter says, "Even if people don't believe in global warming, surely they're smart enough to realise that the earth will eventually run out of everything they're using?"
Earth day, otherwise known as Plant the Garden Day! Have a great day!
It's not too late to make some repairs to this place! The land, the waters, the trees, the birds, the animals, the air! Awareness & education = action!!
Beautiful quote. Happy Earth Day!
Time to move to Mars.
what a wonderful way saying- we all should think this way. Thanks for posting this !
Clean water and air, the stuff of life.
Happy Earth Day! The earth certainly is a precious gift. :)
Happy Earth Day! We should all make an effort to keep this planet beautiful.
all it takes is a little bit of love
God has given us the earth to care for, for sure. And I think we have not done such a good job...thanks for the reminder, Earth Day slipped my mind, I will put some quotes on the prayer line.
Happy Earth Day, OE! I keep hoping that mankind will pull it out ~ but sometimes it's hard to stay positive.
Happy Earth Day to you too. : )
Amen on this. Earth Day is every day. Have a terrific day. :)
Well said! I want my girls to grow up in a lush, green planet. Maintaining it's health is so important! Happy Earth Day!
the problem is, it requires long term thinking, i don't think we are wired for that. let future selves deal with that...
I think this is one of the big things I worry most about, the environment, the countryside. I love Native American quotes, they are just so wise.
One of my favorite quotes. It is oh so true. Happy Earth Day!
It's a perfect quote for today and every day.
Happy Earth Day
Mother Earth deserves a bit of respect! It's no wonder she 'loses it' at times!
I just read on another blog that it was Earth Day! I'm so glad you guys are here to remind me :)
Ahhhh, very nice quote - one we should all keep in mind, always!
Here, here! I totally agree. Let's always consider change in our everyday routines to leave less of a footprint on our beloved earth...
have you seen the movie Chasing Ice? It is absolutely incredible and tells a story of this incredible man who has a passion for photography and glaciers. SERIOUSLY out of this world.
Happy Earth Day to you too!
This is true... we really need to take care of this world for our children instead of wasting things so much... :)Happy Earth day to you Keith!!!
Wise words from a native North American. The spirit of the First Nation's people understand that we have to respect nature's natural balance on our fragile planet.Be well, human.Penny the Jack Russell dog and modest internet superstar...
How true! Happy Earth Day to you. :)
Happy Earth Day (even though we should celebrate every day)!
I think it is already too late :(
Oh so true!Nathalie
Happy Earth Day:)
Yes, Happy Earth Day! It should be every day. It's heartbreaking to see how much we take this wonderful, unique, unbelievable planet for granted, how little we care about it. I hope Earth will find a way, even if we don't...
I hope it's not too late, Keith ... I live in the country ... still ... I see changes all around me ... the farmers are getting ready for spring seeding ... sounds lovely and innocent, but pesticides will follow in order to protect the crops ...I am surrounded by the "precious" Alberta oil pumps ... I'm assured that my drinking water is safe to drink ... we are calving out 30+ cows right now ... with 20 on the ground ... 3 of them where extremely weak, and needed 24 hr care ... never happened before. When I started beef farming 30 years ago , the little critters were born and on their feet 30 minutes later ... I feel so very sad right now ... about our future.
So true! What a great reminder about the fragility and gift of life.
Hi Keith - we definitely need to think of the earth and protect it, while remembering we're all human, all linked and all important to each other and then add in all the flora and fauna ... all should be well - sadly man isn't always that thoughtful.I live in hope .. cheers Hilary
Very true, more protection, less human garbage
Some of my family members know I'm a big tree-hugger and asked what I was doing for Earth Day. The thing is, here every day is Earth Day. We try to watch our power and water consumption, and my husband and I have been working on planting trees, removing invasive plants, and putting in more drought tolerant plantings throughout our yard. I love me some mother earth.
And we should take care of it better then we do! sandie
Certainly it is not too late. We should preserve it for our children.
Oh, I like that Native American quote!
yes, i absolutely agree!! :) happy earth day
I'm trying to be aware of my every step...Each step is my massage for Mother Earth ...
After we continue to trash this earth the Lord will make a new heaven and a new earth...pollution free.
no kidding! It's the most important thing we could ever do....cheers!
It’s up to each of us to take care of the earth – if we still have time, it’s not much unfortunately.
So, so true!
Beautiful Keith and so true, it isn't too late...
True! We need to preserve earth for the future generation. Should not think earth is ours alone to do anything to ruins.
I love how you put it as a gift:) we are not as priviliaged as we thing we are
I'm all in there with you Keith.
I do my best to keep my garbage as little as possible. Why don't we have recycling the way the Canadians do?
Hello friend! I recently moved my old blog over to this neck of the woods. I've missed reading your posts!
I don't know how I missed this post. I'm getting way behind with the A-Z. Such a beautiful thought, Keith, do you really think there is still a chance to save it? So many of the trees are dying and that really makes me sad.
Earth Day sort of zoomed past a lot of us this year, I think. Hope you did something beneficial.
Yes I have to remember that next time I leave the bags in the car...
nice picture to go with the quote, and so true!
Exactly. Lovely quote. A singer/songwriter in New Zealand used that quote in a song in 1975 titled "A Question of Values" - the theme song for the world's first green political party.
Happy belated Earth Day! Beautiful quote! :)
I love that quote to! I love the Native American philosophy about the earth. We've been trying to be better. Somethings we do: We hardly waste food. If I see that fruit is looking like it's on it's last limb I wash it, cut it and freeze it for later smoothies. We keep a compost pile year round. We use reusable sandwich bags for our lunches and for shopping. I buy good clothes for the boys. Why? Because I can get it to go through 3 kids at least: My oldest, my youngest, and handed down. Except for jeans, no matter how good they are they put holes in the knees. Now I do need to work on shorter showers. It's my best relaxing moment. At least I take one every other day.
Another great quote and so true! Happy Earth Day should be everyday!
such a wise quote,
In honor of earth day, I didn't flush every time I peed.
What if we run out of room for landfills?
